Main goal

My main goal was to design an intuitive and efficient AI-powered legal assistant that helps legal professionals and individuals streamline research, draft documents, and manage casework with ease. The challenge was to create a seamless user experience that balances advanced AI capabilities with a user-friendly interface, ensuring trust, accuracy, and accessibility.

In this case study, I’ll walk through my UX design process—from user research and wireframing to prototyping and usability testing—highlighting the key insights and design decisions that shaped the final product.

Every great thing starts with a research

Depth interviews

We conducted in-depth interviews with legal and audit professionals to understand their workflows, challenges, and expectations for AI automation. Insights gained shaped the design and functionality of the product.

Online surveys

As a crucial next step, we gathered quantitative primary data through online surveys, reaching a broader audience to validate key insights and assess industry needs.

Competitive benchmarking

Next we conducted a competitive benchmarking analysis to evaluate existing legal and audit automation solutions. This process helped identify industry standards, key features, gaps, and opportunities, ensuring the product offers a distinct and competitive advantage.

Personas

Isida.ai will serve B2B users (law firms, legal teams) needing AI-driven research, drafting, and collaboration, and B2C users (individuals, small businesses) seeking quick legal insights and document generation.

Pain points

B2B Pain Points: Time-consuming legal research, inefficient document drafting, lack of seamless team collaboration, and compliance risks.

‍B2C Pain Points: Difficulty understanding legal terms, costly legal services, limited access to reliable legal advice, and complex document creation.

Design

Key steps for better usability

Following the research stage, I analyzed key findings and defined the MVP to guide design decisions and enhance usability.

Journey Map

I built the journey map from onboarding to task completion, outlining key steps like queries, AI insights, and document finalization.

Defining navigation

I designed the navigation to be intuitive and efficient, ensuring quick access to legal cases, their key features and documents.

Wireframing

I created a low-fidelity prototype which helped me identify usability issues and iteratively refine the design.

Branding

For this project, I opted for clean and invisible branding, keeping the design subtle and unobtrusive so users can fully focus on the product and its content without distractions.

Design system

I implemented a customized Tailwind-based design system to achieve consistency, scalability, and a sleek, modern aesthetic. This system features tailored components, refined typography, and a cohesive color palette, all designed to enhance a professional and intuitive user experience. Additionally, I used design tokens and variables to ensure visual consistency, streamline updates, and improve overall efficiency across the project.

Figma file structure

A well-organized Figma file structure is essential for seamless collaboration, efficient design handoff, and maintaining clarity throughout the design process.

Story documenting

For better navigation each story is properly documented including story name, description and step by step interaction.

Interactive prototype

I created an interactive prototype to test and validate my design, ensuring a smooth user experience while refining key interactions based on feedback.

Analyzing legal cases

Isida.ai quickly reviews sources such as contracts, invoices, emails, meeting minutes, and other documents. It compares them against legal regulations and case law to provide concise summaries and actionable recommendations.

Impact

Results of my work

This was a challenging experience due to time constraints and a lack of clear feature prioritization. However, it turned out to be an exciting and insightful project that required strategic decision-making, adaptability, and close collaboration.
